eBay Open

eBay’s flagship event for sellers brings the community together to learn, network, and hear directly from senior leadership. Historically an in-person experience, the event evolved into a digital and hybrid format as the needs of the seller community shifted.

eBay Open 2022 aimed to bring sellers closer—onstage, behind the scenes, and into the conversation—while reinforcing eBay’s commitment to sellers and inspiring confidence in eBay as their platform of choice. The challenge was to translate the energy, access, and connection of an in-person event into a fully immersive, end-to-end online experience.

The resulting experience focused on creating a cohesive visual system and presentation framework that supported dozens of sessions and speakers, helping participants feel more involved, engaged, and connected despite the virtual setting.

Keynotes

Event development was structured around four guiding pillars—Inspire, Connect, Educate, and Celebrate—shaping both the content strategy and the overall experience. Programming combined seller-led storytelling with keynote presentations from eBay’s senior leadership, alongside fireside conversations designed to foster dialogue between sellers and the SLT.

Seller-led

The experience blended photography, animation, video, and live interactive moments to support a dynamic digital environment, resulting in increased engagement and participation. The event exceeded the previous year’s metrics and grew to over 10,000 attendees with more than 30,000 registrations.
